Metaxalone relaxes muscles and is used for short-term, painful muscular conditions in which muscles are in spasm.

It is used along with rest and physical therapy to decrease muscle pain and spasms associated with strains, sprains or other muscle injuries. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain.
